There are 3 academic programs in the faculty of BMS at LIMU:

1st Program of Study at BMS faculty
-The study in the faculty is according to the system of “Problem Based Learning” at a rate of at least four blocks of study for each academic year.

According to the nature of the blocks, sciences are provided in one or another way of lectures, tutorials, Brainstorming & debriefing sessions, Practical lessons and Seminars.

 

-Period of study in the faculty is four years, the study is to be carried according to the following stages:
• Phase I – Period of one academic year.
• Phase II – Period of study is two academic years.
• Phase III – Period of study is one academic year.
The final academic year includes a graduation research project by students, proposed by the Scientific Committee in the faculty.

-Program on which the course is given: Bachelor of Basic Medical Sciences.

-The 2nd program is pre-clinic phase of Medicine
During this program the students will be studying for 3 years and be prepared for the pre-clinical phase and basic medical sciences’ subjects for Medicine (Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, Microbiology, Pharmacology… etc.) which includes phase I and II of the 1st program.

 

-The 3rd program is pre-clinic phase of Dentistry
During this program the students will be studying for 2 years and be prepared for the pre-clinic phase and basic medical sciences’ subjects for Dentistry (Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, Microbiology, Pharmacology… etc.) which includes phase I of the 1st program and a second year specialized of dental students.

The applicant must provide the following documents:

1- High school certificate or its equivalent.
2- A photocopy of (Birth certificate – Parent birth certificate – Family number).
3- Blood group.
4- Health certificate clears the applicant of any contagious diseases (AIDS/HIV – Hepatitis).
5- 4 Colored personal photographs (4×6).
6- Certificate of good conduct and behavior provided by the previous institute.
7- A photocopy of the English page of the passport.
8- National Identification Number.

*All applicants must be prepared for an interview after the required documents have been met.

  • A program was developed by the BMS faculty to follow up, give support and advice the students on their performance and behavior, also listening to their problems and obstacles during the academic year.
  • Each group of students is supervised by an academic supervisor all year long.
  • The academic supervisor is obligated to schedule a meeting with their respective group for each course, and record all the students’ complaints or/and problems.
  • Some students are treated as a special case and the year coordinator should be notified.
  • The collected data is reviewed by the faculty, and each issue is addressed separately by a report at the end of the course.
